Storytime never ended

Threshold Theater’s mission
Produce fresh LGBTQ+ works

Threshold’s mission to produce fresh LGBTQ+ works means we create a place for the voices of the LGBTQ+ community to tell our stories no matter our sexuality, age, race, religion or gender identity through developing and producing the new scripts of living LGBTQ+ playwrights.

We tell the stories of who we are, because only when we see each other do the walls of discrimination start to crumble. We cannot do this alone though, so we are calling on you to join us, the artists and audiences.

Threshold Theater is Looking for Two New Company Members

Picture
We’re looking for two more folks to join Threshold Theater’s mission of putting new plays by LGBTQ+ playwrights in front of Twin Cities audiences.

Love reading new plays?  You might be just who we need.

These two new company members will be Literary Associates, helping the Literary Director stay on top of the new play submissions we regularly receive from LGBTQ+ writers.

You’ll be helping us find the hidden gems in our electronic pile of scripts.  The Literary Director and Associates will split the load of reading and evaluating plays (from 10-minute scripts to two-act full length works). The most promising plays will be passed to the company leadership to make programming decisions for upcoming seasons. The Literary Team will also share their own suggestions for what programming should look like, joining the conversation and influencing the direction of the company’s work.

Beyond the work of the Literary Team, you can be as involved in the work of Threshold as little or as much as you want.  Like all members of the Threshold Theater company, the Literary Associates would also have the opportunity to present themselves for other artistic opportunities within the company (directing, acting, producing, writing, design, etc.) as projects arise (this includes the New Play Reading Series, the November Playwriting Challenge, script development workshops, and full stage productions).

Literary Associates, as all company members do, would also participate in company meetings and committees as needed - but their primary role in the company would be the processing, reading and evaluation of scripts to help guide Threshold’s programming decisions.
You can see a list of past and current programming on our website - and the most recent offering in our New Play Reading Series on our YouTube channel.

If you’re interested in joining Threshold’s literary team, send an email to thresholdmpls@gmail.com with your name and contact info, a little about yourself and answer the following questions:
Why are you drawn to the work of Threshold?
Why are you drawn to reading and working with new plays?
What experience do you think makes you a good fit?

We’ll be considering applications on a rolling basis as they come in, through February 15, 2023, until we find the two new people we’re looking for.
All applicants are welcome, but we are particularly interested in diversifying the company, to bring different experiences into the consideration of scripts.  BIPOC artists, transgender or non-binary artists, and female-identifying artists in particular are encouraged to apply.

Threshold Theater is asking for your support.

We know we are only here because of support from the community. We can't do it without you in the audience and through your generous contributions. For us to continue to produce the New Play Reading Series and our production at the end of the 2022-2023 season, we are setting a goal of $2,000. This will allow us to continue to pay all the artists we work with: writers, actors, directors and designers.
As a special thank you to our donors:

As a special thank you to our donors:
$1 to $49: You will be listed in all programs and our website.
$50 to $99: You also get two comps to each New Play Reading Series presentation.

$100 to $499: You also get a script of each reading, signed by the cast and company.
$500+: You also get four tickets to the production which concludes the season.

A gift of any size is welcome to help.  The majority of our support still comes from individual donors. The fact that you give is more important than the amount that you give.
