Threshold Theater wants to see new scripts from LGBTQ playwrights about the LGBTQ experience.
That means that LGBTQ+ characters are at the center of the story and driving the action of the narrative. If you've got a story like that, we're interested in seeing it.
Threshold Theater’s mission to “produce fresh LGBTQ works” means we tell the stories of who we are, because only when we see each other do the walls of discrimination start to crumble.
In addition to fully staged productions (when we can safely do such things again), Threshold Theater also wants to curate an ongoing series of public readings of new scripts to introduce audiences to new writers, and to help in the development of new work.
We're looking for new scripts of any length (from 10 minute to 2 acts) penned by LGBTQ writers about the LGBTQ experience. We're defining new as either unproduced, or produced once before. Previous public readings of a script are OK.
All LGBTQ writers are welcome, but we specifically want to encourage submissions from those in communities whose voices have been traditionally underrepresented.
Threshold is excited by plays of all genres, topics, and the intersectionality of LGBTQ and other aspects of life. Our history did not start in 1969 and the theater world has only seen a sliver of our experiences – we are dedicated to changing that.
If you're interested in submitting your work please do so as either a Word or PDF attachment, and include production/development history (if any) along with your contact information to [email protected]
Please put 'Play Submission' in the subject line.
10 minute plays please submit the entire work.
Full length scripts please submit the first 25 pages, if we want to see the full script, we'll follow up with you.
If you'd just like to get to know us better, feel free to contact us with any questions.
We look forward to hearing from you and having the chance to read your work.
Thanks!
