Join us as we kick off Threshold Theater’s 7th season with an afternoon of drag performances, Bingo, a preview reading from World Premiere: Service Industry by Enid Brain & J. Andrew Norris - How do you know when to quit? A workplace comedy follows a female stand‑up comedian juggling personal, artistic, and professional life - and a lively silent auction.
Can’t make it on October 3? You can still participate in the silent auction online. Beginning September 8, each item will be posted individually on our Facebook page . Online bidding opens when each post goes live and closes October 3 at 2:00 PM. In-person attendees will have one final chance to bid, with winners announced at 3:00 PM.

New Play Reading Series: Parlor Games by Bethany Dickens Assof
Violet - 'Vee' - is in desperate need of money, as usual (she's one of those 'destitute rich' you've heard so much about from Edith Wharton novels). Without funds, she'll be forced to curtail her wild parties, social engagements, outstanding collection of men's suits, and expensive pursuit of sordid love affairs. In dire straights and strait-laced into a corset, she travels to her Aunt Beryl's rural estate to secure some ready cash. On the way she meets Alice, a potential Great Love, but how can she hope to impress this young woman in her impoverished state and with all these needy relatives around, looking for a handout? A romp in the style of Oscar Wilde (except less subtle with the queer themes).

How do you know when to quit? "Service Industry" follows Lily, an aspiring stand up comedian, as she starts a new job at a sports bar in NYC. She must balance her personal, artistic, and professional life as she navigates the endlessly complicated world of the service industry and ponders what to make of her career.

Chicago friends return to a gay summer campground to continue their annual tradition of competing to be named, “Summer’s Campiest Camper”. As the competition draws closer, the campers are forced to reveal their true selves and confront their hidden feelings. Campy; The Search for Summer’s Campiest Camper is a gay Indigenous rom-com about love, lust and longing.

'Service Industry' is funded through a generous grant from the Metro Regional Arts Council, which is funded by an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature with money for the state's general fund.
